Generous with Our Talents – Erma’s Law

Sermon Title: Generous with Our Talents – Erma’s Law: Arriving Home with Nothing Left
Teacher: Rev. Dr. Brian Ebel
Scripture: Matthew 20:1-16
Big Idea:
God gives talents to EACH ONE for the COMMON GOOD to GROW THE KINGDOM.
Key Points
Point 1
Everyone of us has talents to grow the Kingdom…the challenge is, sometimes we miss the big picture. The good news is this: there’s no better feeling than using the talents God has given you to grow the Kingdom and change the world!
Point 2
Our struggle is we tend to think with the mindset of the day laborer, and not the landowner. Paul describes spiritual gifts to the church in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and ultimately says this:
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
(1 Corinthians 12:11 NIV)
Begin discerning the spiritual gifts God has given you by taking an inventory…
Point 3
The image of the vineyard points back to God’s desire to have a fruitful, healthy, vibrant Kingdom. Read Isaiah 5 which points to the unhealthy vineyard, and Isaiah 65, which points to the vineyard in the new heavens and new earth.
