Macy Bell is our official music educator for children now and will be playing a more active role in our ministry! Stay tuned for details about this exciting adventure!
WHO IS MACY?
After attending St. Luke as she was growing up, Macy earned two degrees in music education—a bachelor’s from UK and a master’s from Auburn. She puts those degrees to good use through her job of teaching elementary school music in Fayette County, and she also is currently working on her Ph.D. Macy enjoys training for marathons, hiking, and taking care of her backyard farm with her husband. They have four chickens, two ducks, and a black lab named Gunner.
WHAT DOES SHE DO?
Macy is working hard these days as the children’s music director for the Kindergarten through 5th grade students. She is working to establish a brand new way to help the children learn by integrating an Orff Schulwerk approach to music education, the foundations of which are singing, playing instruments, and movement. “I believe the church plays an important role in supporting musical development, and I am excited to provide music-making experiences for the St. Luke children,” she says.
