We spend much of our lives planning, achieving, and chasing the next thing, only to reach our goals and ask, “Now what?” In James 4:13–17, we are reminded that life is a mist—we are here for a short time, and none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. Planning is not the problem; the danger comes when we build our future without surrendering it to God. Instead of boasting in what we will accomplish, James invites us to bow before the Lord and pray, “If the Lord wills.” Faith means trusting that God knows better than we do and surrendering our plans, dreams, work, and future to Him. The question for us is this: will we spend our lives chasing the next achievement, or will we surrender them to the God who surrendered His life for us?
