We live in a world that constantly encourages us to measure our lives by what we have, what we lack, and how we compare to the people around us. But what if we’re measuring the wrong things? In James 5:1-6, we’re reminded that wealth itself isn’t the problem; it’s what happens when we love it, hold it too tightly, and become indifferent to the needs of others. Whether we have much or little, we’re called to resist greed, comparison, and resentment, and instead strengthen our hearts in Christ. True thriving isn’t measured by what we accumulate but by the people we love and the lives we impact. Everything God entrusts to us is an opportunity to serve, give, and invest in what lasts. The question for us is this: Are we spending our lives accumulating things that fade, or giving them away for people and for God?
