Rhythm – Week 2: Scripture

Sermon Series: Rhythm
Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 2 Timothy 3:16
Big Idea: The Word of God is an immediate and inexhaustible source of wisdom that should be deeply embedded in our hearts, guiding our daily lives.
Key Points:
1. Scripture is an Immediate and Inexhaustible Source of Wisdom
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
- The Bible is not just another book—it is alive and points us to God.
- Scripture is meant to shape us, not for us to twist to fit our personal views.
- Have you ever returned to a passage and found it speaking to you in a new way? That’s the power of God’s living Word.
2. The Word of God Must Be Embedded in Our Hearts
“These words that I command you today shall be on your heart.” (Deuteronomy 6:6)
- Scripture is not meant to be skimmed like a blog—it’s meant to be burned into our hearts.
- If we are not consistently in the Word, how can we expect it to guide us in difficult moments?
- Teaching Scripture to the next generation is a lifelong responsibility—not just something we do when they are young.
3. Scripture is a Roadmap That Keeps Pointing Us Back to God
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:9)
- God’s Word serves as signposts in our lives, reminding us of His presence and guidance.
- What verses do you return to when you need encouragement, wisdom, or correction?
- If God’s Word is not the loudest voice in your life, what is?
4. The Rhythm of Scripture Will Transform Your Life
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
Challenge: Start each day with 10 minutes in the Word.
- The more Scripture is in you, the more it shapes how you live, think, and respond.
- Reading the Bible isn’t about finishing—it’s about changing.
Application Questions:
- Are you regularly engaging with Scripture, or just occasionally skimming it?
- Is God’s Word truly the foundation of your life, or is it just one of many voices?
- What practical steps can you take to embed Scripture deeper into your daily routine?
Call to Action:
Commit to a daily 10-minute rhythm of reading Scripture. Let it shape your heart, guide your actions, and transform your life.
