The Theology: Legit Level Doctrine. | Brian Ebel

“Doctrine” means “that which is taught. It’s teaching. This follows the tradition of what Jesus did – he is Lord and Savior, and he is also teacher. His teaching instructs us about God, us, life, and how we are to live that life in union with God. Apostles kept teaching. Doctrine or teaching has a purpose. The learner is supposed to copy the teacher – to imitate them. But in imitating the teacher, the teaching shouldn’t make a person an exact copy of the teacher but the person they were created to be because of the quality of the teaching. Part of our doctrine from Scripture says a person of LEGIT character willingly places himself or herself passively under rulers and authorities, and speak evil of no one. It’s tough to speak evil of no one. It’s difficult not to gossip when that’s what’s popular. It’s serious self-control to show restraint and not jump on the latest social media bandwagon, or decide to leave the room when the mud flies.
