Sermon Title: “Abracadabra“
Series: Summer School
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Brian Ebel
Date: Sunday, July 20, 2025
Scripture: Exodus 2:11-25
Big Idea:
We often long for signs when what God is actually offering us is faith. Faith isn’t a feeling but a conviction. God doesn’t want deals. He wants trust. And that trust leads us into bold, obedient action.
Key Points:
- We Always Want Another Sign Like Moses, we ask God for clarity, for proof, for confirmation—again and again. But signs don’t always build faith. Sometimes, they just delay it.
- Faith Is Not a Feeling—It’s a Conviction Faith isn’t about emotional certainty. It’s choosing to believe even when the outcome is unclear. It’s the deep trust that God’s promises will come to pass, even when we can’t see it yet.
- You Already Have Enough to Get Going God equipped Moses with everything he needed—including a staff and a calling. The question wasn’t about signs, but whether Moses would trust God enough to go. The same is true for us.
Reflection & Application Questions:
- What “signs” have you been waiting for in your life before taking a step of faith?
- In what areas are you making deals with God instead of simply saying “yes”?
- What leap is God inviting you to take right now?
- Is your faith built on conviction or feeling—and how can you tell?
