Big Idea
God’s will for your life isn’t primarily about a career—it’s about a calling to Christ and the needs of His kingdom.
Key Points:
- God Calls All People If you’re breathing, you have a calling. It’s not limited to pastors or missionaries—every believer is called by God. “Here’s how to know if you have a calling in your life, feel your pulse. If you’ve got one, you have a call.”
- Your Calling is Not to a Career, But to Christ God’s call is rooted in who you are in Christ, not just what you do for work. Your career can be a vehicle for your calling, but it’s not the destination. “Our call is not to a career, but to walk in Christ and into the needs of the kingdom.”
- God Equips You with Gifts to Fulfill His Call You’ve been given grace and spiritual gifts to live out your calling. They’re for the work of ministry in everyday life. “If the grace God gives is big, the gifts are big too. Use them.”
- You’re Called to Do What You Are Your calling will align with your God-given identity, gifts, and passion. “A call is to do what you are. The way God made you, the way God wired you—wherever He’s at work.”
- Discerning Your Calling is a Supernatural Journey There’s no perfect process, but you can take steps to discover it: make space for God, reflect on your story, identify values and gifts, and wait on His leading. “The more I grow in Christ, the less I know. But that’s where the listening happens.”
Application Questions:
- Have I been viewing my job or life decisions as my calling or am I open to hearing a deeper call to Christ and His kingdom?
- What spiritual gifts has God given me? Am I actively using them to build up the Body of Christ?
- Where do I sense God already at work in my life and how can I join Him there?
- What values guide my life decisions? Are they aligned with God’s will?
- Am I making intentional space to listen for God’s call? What steps can I take this week to begin discerning it?
