Scripture:
Sermon Title: Living or Alive
Series: Summer School
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Brian Ebel
Date: Sunday, June 15, 2025
Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:1-14
Big Idea:
Pentecost…is a week late this year for all the right reasons. How can we come alive by the work of God, and allow him to move in our lives?
Key Points:
1. There’s a difference between being alive and living.
“Medically speaking, we’re alive. But living is radically different.”
We can go through the motions—routine, familiar, safe—and still be spiritually lifeless. God desires more for us: a Spirit-filled, purpose-driven, kingdom-advancing life.
2. The Spirit of God is what brings dead things to life.
In Ezekiel’s vision, bones were assembled, but there was no life until the Spirit moved.
“The bones are alive, but the Spirit helps us live.”
Are we letting the Spirit breathe into us daily? Or are we standing like lifeless skeletons, waiting for someone else to act?
3. God wants to use us to speak life into dry bones.
Ezekiel wasn’t just an observer—he was a participant.
God told him to prophesy, to speak, to invite the Spirit in.
Are we willing to step into that role? Even when it’s uncomfortable, God can use us to help raise the spiritually dead to new life.
