Big Idea:
We don’t just follow signs, we follow a Savior. Jesus tells Nicodemus that unless he is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. Faith is not about adding more signs or proof. It’s about being transformed by the Spirit into something new.
Key Points:
- Nicodemus Comes at Night He’s a religious leader who knows the rules, but he’s still searching. He comes to Jesus under the cover of night because something in him isn’t settled.
- You Must Be Born Again Jesus shifts the conversation from behavior to rebirth. It’s to be made new by the spirit and not to “fix” ourselves.
- The Wind Blows Where It Chooses Jesus compares the Spirit to the wind…unpredictable, uncontrollable, and undeniably real.
- God So Loved the World This familiar verse (John 3:16) isn’t exactly just about belief, it’s also about trusting in a love that sends a Savior not to redeem us!
Application Questions:
- Am I open to the Spirit’s movement, even when I don’t understand it?
- Where am I still trying to earn or prove faith instead of receiving new life?
- What does being “born again” mean for me today?
